Dear 3MTT Rivers State Fam!
I know it’s been a while since I dropped a letter in your inbox, forgive me but let’s reflect for a moment.
Have you ever reached a point where everything in your life feels perfectly in order?
Account balance ✅
Health ✅
Family ✅
Relationship ✅
School grades ✅
Crushing it at work ✅
And the list goes on...
In reality, when one area of your life is going smoothly, another seems to throw a curveball. You might get your health in check, but then your career hits a bump. When work is on track, family issues arise. There’s always something to manage, and the key to happiness lies in finding joy amidst the challenges.
If you constantly put challenges at the center of your life, waiting to be happy after overcoming them, happiness will always feel out of reach. There will always be something else. Think about it—when was the last time you didn’t have something going on? Maybe for a few days or weeks, if you're lucky.
Don’t let life’s hurdles define your story. Don’t look back when you’re 70 and realize all you did was navigate problems and challenges.
This is a mindset shift I’m working on myself, and I wanted to share it with you. Yes, I’ve got my fair share of challenges right now, but I’m intentionally carving out time for things that bring me joy—like mentorship. Helping people figure out their career paths and contributing to their growth has been truly fulfilling.
If you ever want to chit-chat, figure out stuff in your career, learn about community management or content writing, you can book a call with me here.
PS: Please note that we won’t be talking about ALC or dashboard issues, lol.
And this connects to your learning journey. Yes, the 3MTT program may come with ups and downs, but focus on the positives, however small they may seem. Let those be your driving force.
Try practising this mindset for the rest of the year, and see how it transforms your life.
Today’s Gist
There have been a lot of frequently asked questions popping up in the community and in my DMs. No matter how often I answer them, someone else asks the same thing in a slightly different way. So let’s make this newsletter our source of truth for all those questions.
Question: Can I change my ALC because it’s too far or I just prefer a different one?
Answer: No, you cannot switch ALCs due to personal preference or distance. You were matched based on your LGA of residence and learning track/course. To avoid complications at the end of the program, please stick with your assigned ALC.
Question: I’ve completed my foundational courses but haven’t been assigned an ALC or moved to Cohort 2. What do I do?
Answer: Congrats on finishing your foundational courses! If you’re still waiting to be matched to an ALC, we understand it’s frustrating, but there are some backend issues we’re working to resolve. In the meantime, get the course materials from your colleagues who’ve already been matched and stay engaged with community activities like weekly reflections and the knowledge showcase. We still have cohorts 3, 4, and several other cohorts ahead of us, even if you are not matched now, you will be in future cohorts.
Question: Can I still change my course or location?
Answer: No, changes for Cohort 2 have closed. However, for Cohort 3, 4, and Learning Community members, you can still update your profile on the dashboard. If you're having trouble, try a new browser or incognito mode.
Question: Others are getting data, but I haven’t received any. Why?
Answer: To qualify for the 10GB MTN data reward, participate in the weekly learning reflections. These are small weekly tasks that you need to post on social media and submit through a form. The top 30 fellows each week will receive the reward.
Introducing Peer-to-Peer Learning
We’re reintroducing peer-to-peer learning sessions, starting with the AI/ML topic. Confidence Oko-Jaja, a fellow community member, will lead and coordinate the activities in this space. Remember, irrelevant posts or links not directly connected to AI/ML are not allowed. Community members who violate this will lose their messaging privileges in the community.
If you’d like to volunteer to lead the track topic for your learning track, comment here with your telegram username and send me a DM. This is open to Cohort 2 fellows only.
Please also avoid posting the same message in multiple spaces. Spamming will lead to banning you from the community.
Upcoming Webinar: Saturday, 28th September at 7:30 PM
Join us this Saturday for an insights-packed webinar where we’ll discuss how to contribute meaningfully to open-source projects while mastering the art of documentation. Please make sure you don’t miss it!
It’s raining opportunities for Cohort 1 Fellows!!!
A new tech hub is opening soon and is looking to bring on board a select number of skilled individuals in AI/ML as Instructors and Teaching Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge, help others grow, and also advance your career in a growing field. The hub will be located around Rumuodara, so if you are a Cohort 1 fellow who specialized in AI/ML and live nearby or can easily commute to the area, don’t miss this chance! Fill out the form here to express your interest.
Applications are still open for various remote and onsite job opportunities listed on the job board. Be sure to visit and apply for roles that match your skills. A few of the available opportunities include:

Special Edition Knowledge Showcase
‼ Be sure to follow the instructions carefully on the flyer to boost your chances of winning and submit the link to your post here.
Finally, remember whenever you face any issues with your courses or learning journey, it's essential to describe the problem clearly. A vague message like “I can’t access my course” or “I can’t log in” will not help you get the support you need. Always be specific—mention the exact error message you’re seeing, and if possible, include screenshots. Also, provide your full name and fellow ID to help us resolve the issue faster.
This simple step will save time and ensure we can assist you more effectively!
Fellow Spotlight!!!
Shout out to these incredible fellows! We see you and commend all the effort you put into your learning journey. Don’t relent!
We’ve come to the end of today’s episode! Until next time, stay focused and keep pushing forward! You're building something great. 💪
With love,
Joy Nwaiwu
