Did You Sleep Well? Because We’ve Got Things to Talk About
Take five minutes to read something that’ll make your morning, promise.
Top of the morning to you! 🌞
How are you doing today? I hope you slept all right; no noisy generators or heat battles last night?
Where are you reading this from, already at work, on your way there, or still under your blanket pretending not to hear your alarm? 😅
Whatever it is, I hope your morning is off to a calm and cozy start.
Yes, it’s me again and perhaps we’ll be seeing each other a little more often (don’t roll your eyes just yet 😄). I’m trying to write to you more frequently, get back in tune, and ensure we all stay connected. Maybe Father Christmas came early… or Mama Christmas, depending on how you see it. 😊
Either way, my goal is simple: to keep our community warm, engaged, and growing. So, please, talk to me. If you ever want to share feedback, ideas, or just say hello, hit “Reply” to this newsletter or leave a comment. I’d really love to hear from you.
Now, speaking of staying connected, we’ve got something special lined up this week!
Community Happy Hour: Mental Health and Productivity in a Tech-Driven World
🗓 Wednesday | 🕗 8:00 PM | 💻 Online
This week’s community session is one you absolutely shouldn’t miss. We’ll be talking about mental health and productivity, something that affects every one of us, especially in tech.
Did you know that September is Suicide Prevention Month? It’s a sobering reminder of how mental health matters just as much as physical health. Life in Nigeria can be… well, a lot, from rising costs of things to the daily hustle of just trying to be an adult. Add school, family, or a new tech skill to that mix, and you can see how easily stress can creep in.
That’s why we’re having this session to breathe, to reflect, and to learn ways to balance it all. So please, RSVP using the link below and add the event to your calendar. By 8 p.m., you’ll probably be done with work, showered, maybe holding a cup of tea (or a plate of eba, no judgment 😅). So come join us, relax, and learn something good for your mind and productivity.

Yes, our Hackathon is still on! 🎉
I’ve started seeing some interesting submissions rolling in, but we need more ideas. Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out. All you need is a team of two or three and a problem worth solving, something around you that technology can help improve.
It could be about education, agriculture, environment, health, digital inclusion, or any of our thematic areas. Just think: What frustrates people around you that tech could make easier? That’s your clue!
Don’t overthink it, find one or two fellows you can team up with, brainstorm, and submit your idea. Who knows? You might just be one of our winners.
Also, did you know that recently, our community was featured on TV and radio through a media interview sponsored by MTN, one of the top partners of the 3MTT program? During that interview, we shared stories of how far this program has come and the incredible impact it’s having.
One of my favourite parts of that conversation was highlighting a success story from right here in Rivers State. One of our very own Cohort 1 fellows started just like you. She submitted an entry for the hackathon, nothing too fancy, just an idea. She went on to compete at the sub-regional level, emerging in second place and winning cash and other amazing prizes.
And she didn’t stop there. Today, she has built on that project and turned it into a foundation that has now reached and impacted over 1,000 people.
You can read more about her inspiring journey here on LinkedIn and watch the full TV interview on YouTube.
So, don’t look at your hackathon project as just another 3MTT project. It could be the start of something transformational for you, your career, and your community. Whether you win or not, taking that leap of faith might just open doors you never imagined.
Submit that idea today. Your story could be the next one we celebrate.
If you’re in Cohort 3, make sure you’ve joined the WhatsApp group. It’s a great space to connect and find teammates.
⚠️ Important
Recently, one of our fellows was almost scammed while trying to buy a device advertised in one of our community groups.
Please remember: 3MTT is not liable for any private transactions or sales happening in our community groups. Those groups are meant for learning and collaboration, not trading.
If you must buy something, please:
Verify the seller thoroughly.
Buy only from trusted vendors.
Avoid “too good to be true” offers (especially for fairly used gadgets).
And if you can, please stick to verified stores or official retailers.
December is around the corner, the “sharp guys” season. Please, don’t fall victim. Protect yourself and your pocket.
Before You Go…
For those eagerly waiting to join the next cohort, we see you! Plans are already in motion for the next phase of the program. Stay tuned for updates.
And to our Cohort 3 fellows, congratulations on completing your learning and assessments! Certificates are being processed, and we’ll share details on how to access them soon.
That’ll be all from me today. Go ahead and have a beautiful day.
Drink some water. Smile at someone. And remember, progress is progress, no matter how small. You’re doing better than you think.
Till next time,
Joy Nwaiwu
Community Manager, 3MTT (Rivers State)
